Tweening Extenstion 101
Don't know how to use the Tweening Extenstion on CodeTorch? We're here to help!
Want to learn how to animate but don’t know which blocks to use in Scratch?
Well, look no further! I know a lot about using the tweening extensions, and I can guide you through basic functions, systems, etc. Now let’s get into it!
The Basics
The tweening extension has a ton of functions. I’ll go over these functions for you to have a better understanding!
Tween (X or Y) Position: This part is used to tell the sprite which way to go
X: (Number) Y: (Number): This is used to tell the sprite where to go exactly on the Scratch Loader Viewer
Over (Number) Seconds: This shows how long the sprite takes to go from Point A to Point B
(Linear, Sine, Quad, expo etc.): These are the crucial tweening fuctions to REALLY animate your sprite.
Ease (In, Out, In & Out): This is used as a form of sliding for the sprite to slide left or right.
Now that we went over the Basics, you now have a basic understanding of the Tweening Extension
If you’re trying to go for cool effects for your project, we have the Advanced Tweening Section to level up your animation skills!
Advanced Tweening
1. Try to Map out where you want your sprite to go first before setting up the tweening if you’re trying to get it from Point A to Point B
2. For smooth animation meme-like effects, use either the bounce, elastic, back or expo functions to achieve this.
3. If you are making an animation that uses a slide in from any direct, its highly recommended that you use the ease out slide.
4. If you are trying to achieve a “Head Bop” movement style with the Tweening extenstion, It’s highly recommended that you use a wait block in between 2 tweening blocks so the sprite can go back and forth.
5. Its very crucial that you keep the tweening time below 1 second for quick slides and/or transitions.
6. Make sure to split up your sprites into different pieces so it wont look so static and still.
Now that you know some more about it, It’s time to see it in action! The link below is one of my projects that uses the tweening extension for one of my animation memes as an example:
